Herbie Hancock, now a Jazz legend in his own right received some great lessons from his mentor Miles Davis, here is what happened a young Herbie played totally the wrong chord during one of Miles's solos in Stockholm in 1967.

“Miles pauses for a fraction of a second, and then he plays some notes that somehow, miraculously, make my chord sound right… And then Miles just took off from there, unleashing a solo that took the song in a new direction. The crowd went absolutely crazy.”

Miles taught Herbie that night that integrating the ‘wrong’ chord into the performance was much more important than playing the ‘right’ chord, don’t loose sight of the main goal, and Do not Fear mistakes, There are none.
